As you already know, WhatsApp is now owned by Facebook. It already tested the two-step verification with beta versions of Android and Windows Phone apps in November last year. Two-Step verification is an optional feature, when enabled, any attempt to verify your phone number on WhatsApp must be accompanied by the six-digit passcode that you choose.
You can optionally add email address to your account which will be used to reset your passcode if you forget it. But WhatsApp says that it does not verify this email address to confirm its accuracy. So it is recommend you to provide and accurate email address so that you are not locked out of your account if you forget your passcode. Now question arises, how to activate the two-step verification?
You can enable two-step verification by opening WhatsApp then open settings then Account then choose Two-Step verification and tap to Enable it.
WhatsApp already rolled out full end-to-end encryption for all communication last year. So, Every call, messages, photos, videos, files anything you send is end-to-end encrypted by default.
